Wolf Children Screening at Vancouver International Film Festival!

Hey everyone! The Vancouver Anime Convention Society is proud to announce a community partnership with the Vancouver International Film Festival Society (VIFF).

The Vancouver Anime Convention Society will be co-presenting the film Wolf Children. Fans of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, it’s time to expand your horizons! This beautiful, sweet modern day fairy tale is the latest animated feature from Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time). Wolf Children is exquisite, a fantasy about a single mom, Hana, who falls in love with a wolf man. Together, they had a girl and a boy, Yuki and Ame, who grow furry ears and long tails whenever they get excited. They may look adorably cute but Hana knows outsiders wouldn’t understand. She brings them up alone after the tragic death of the wolf man and tries to teach self-control, but soon relinquishes the city for an old farmhouse in the country, away from nosey neighbours. Here she learns to cultivate crops, and hopes that her wolf children will have time to figure out who and what they are. To learn more about the film and watch the trailer, please visit www.wolfchildrenmovie.com.

There will be 3 showings at the Film Festival:
1. September 28th, 2013 at 4:20pm, screening at Cineplex International Village
2. October 5th, 2013 at 1:00pm, screening at the Centre for Performing Arts
3. October 11th, 2013 at 6:00pm, screening at the Rio Theatre

For tickets and more details, check out the VIFF website.

Stage Adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke

Nov. 30th, 2012 | 07:55 pm
posted by: lostgryphin in anime_evolution

I came across this litted gem a few days ago - and I just wanted to let Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki fans that:

There is a kickstarter campaign for a second run of a Stage Adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke.

The first run is sold out - but they are planning a second one (see the 50 GBP) reward - yes, sadly it takes place in London - but sometimes it is good to just show support.

Here is a quote from the campaign:

"The Studio Ghibli classic and epic ecological fable Princess Mononoke, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, will be faithfully re-told for the stage in Whole Hog Theatre’s adaptation using giant puppets, physical storytelling and original live music.

It is such an honour to have been given the opportunity to stage such a loved film. The whole team are huge fans of Studio Ghibli and Mr Miyazaki’s work and so passionate about bringing this project to life. We want nothing more than to perform it to as many people, and in as many places, as possible and we need you to help us."

I did contact the PR team and they told me that the second run of the show should be some time during late Summer/early August.
